Design Commission Information

How it works:

When starting on a design commission, regardless of the project, one of the first steps is looking at moodboards. Usually I ask for some images from the client, wether it be the aesthetic they are going for, the colour pallets or just images that stood out and inspired them, it is good to see this so I know what we are aiming to achieve. I then make my own moodboard to ensure we have the same vision for the project.

The next stage is the designing, here I will create some rough sketches with annotations, colour pallet options and fabric samples. These rough sketches are a good way to look at a variety of design options and will be the base of the final design. From here I will create a more detailed final design sketch. Once this sketch is approved and all the details have been discussed, I will illustrate a final design, much like the one seen on the right.

Depending on the size and type of project the price range can differ quite a bit, it all depends on how many designs are needed, what they will be used for and the detail needed within each of the design documents. No matter the project, once I know all the details we will work out the budget and you will be sent a rough quote before I begin.

Since all the design work is done on digital files, the stage at which I take payment may differ, however, it usually falls around the time between when the final sketch is approved and before the final design illustration and details are sent through.

All requests for payments will be sent via an invoice, and each invoice will include a contract that we will both sign and stick to. The contract will include:

- How my designs may be used

- Where my designs may be used

- Use of my designs or illustrations must be appropriately credited

- The date upon which payment must be recived

- The date upon which the designs must be recived

- What designs I am producing for you

- What information is provided alongside the designs

- How any issues we encounter will be resolved

- The timeframe I have to completed any redesigns, if needed

- That I maintain the rights to my designs, unless there is a separate agreement reached
